Title of biome: Estuaries
Introduction: Estuaries are full of birds, fish, crabs, and many other animals and plants. The waters of estuaries are sheltered so they give many different plants and animals homes. Also they filter dirt and pollution to keep the water quality good.
Definition: estuary is a partially enclosed body of water formed where freshwater from rivers and streams flows into the ocean, mixing with the salty sea water.
Map of biome:
Biotic Factors (animals, plants, algae, etc. living things):
Fish
Starry flounder
Bay pipe fish
Chinook salmon
Starry Flounder
River otter
Mammals-
Harbor sea
River otter
Birds-
American Wigeon
Great-blue heron
Greater Yellowlegs
Abiotic Factors (rain, wind, temperature, location, soil quality, seasons): Inside the soil, sediment sand and mud have lots of microscopic bacteria. During the day, animals retreat from the tides. During the night, tides make see waters flood, and submerge into estuaries. There is no set temperature or amount of rain, because estuaries are in many different places.
Additional Info. (any famous landmarks, famous types of your biome ex- Sahara Desert, anything well-known in biome, how is biodiversity, etc. make it interesting!!) Estuaries have the most productive natural systems in the world because there are some many nutrients when then fresh water and salt water meet. It produces more food than the richest mid western farmland. The fish in the estuary are 75 % of the commercial fish caught. And 80-90% the recreational fish are caught here to. The estuaries provides out nation with 28 million jobs.
